Thomas BALL, son of Thomas BALL and Abigail WHEELER. Born 23 Feb 1725, died 20 Jul 1777 in the Revolutionary War Service, 52 years Rev. soldier from Walpole, NH. They resided in Brookfield and Rutland. He was a Revolutionary War soldier, at one time stationed at For , Charlestown. Besides other service, he was in the Continental Army at Saratoga. Married 5 Jun 1760 (17 years married) to: Rebecca PARMENTER Born ± 1727 Children: 1. Mary BALLBorn 8 Jan 1761 She may have been the Mary who married John PRIEST, 15 Mar 1783 2. Samuel BALLBorn 10 Jul 1762, died 20 May 1839 Alstead, NH, 76 years, buried Old Cemetery at East Alstead. They located in Alstead, NH in 1790. He enlisted in the Revolutionary War, May 25, 1776, at South Hadley as a privated in a regiment raised for the defense of Boston. He also enlisted in the Continental Army for three years, 1777-1780, whe n he was discharged. He saw service in the northern campaign in and around West Point, New York. While a Captain in the Continental Army, Benedict Arnold in a fis of anger, struck him with his sword. Samuel grasped a rifel and would have shot Arnol d on the spot had he not been prevented from doing do by Samuel's lieutenant. 4. Thankful BALLBorn 1 Aug 1771 |
